    vluelink, yes it works, as a matter of fact zabaw already made it.

    what modifications do i need to use L293D motor driver instead of using diodes and transistors.

    We can realize the logic using 4 NAND gates. In this way we can use only 1 7400 IC instead of 7408 and 7404 ICs. Hence we can reduce IC count by one.

    By the way i used QRD114 from Fairchild . The circuit works great.
